Dear fellow Executive Director,

Greetings from the La Jolla YMCA!

I am writing to recommend you meet with Gray Suit Marketing. They have just completed a Marketing
Audit and Marketing Plan for our branch and the timing and results could not have been better.

First off, the Partners in the firm are part of the YMCA family. Founding Partner David Warren serves on
the San Diego County Board of Governors and Partner John Driver serves on the YMCA Overnight Camps
Board. They have been investing and believing in the Y long before the current opportunity appeared.
They understand our structure, culture, challenges and our new brand.

The marketing project Gray Suit performed dovetailed perfectly with the roll out of the new Y brand.
They turned the extra workload of the rollout into an opportunity for our branch. The project did the
following:

• Market research to measure the distance between the reputation we want, and the reputation
we have in the community
• Using Gray Suit expertise to compare how we are communicating versus how we should be
communicating
• Building a tactical twelve month plan to bridge the gaps uncovered in the previous two steps
Gray Suit Marketing was attentive and invested, and the work product was exceptional and actionable.

Because they are a “part of the family”, they are offering a partial pro bono to other branches. Please
take my advice to hear them out. Gray Suit Marketing is the key to making the new Y brand more than a
slogan, but an impact on our service area.

My best,

Sam Wurtzbacher
Executive Director
